Star trails in the Red Sea

My first attempt at shooting Star trails. Due to ship’s movement in water, the trails aren’t as steady as one would see from results shot on land.

Aurora borealis (Northern lights)

23 years at sea and I finally get to see the majestic Aurora borealis (Northern lights) in Barents Sea. Trust me, this video doesn’t really do justice to the real experience.

This time-lapse was shot on the night of 11th Sept 2018 off Norwegian north coast. I have used a GoPro Session 5 camera to shoot the image sequence, which was used in making this video.

It rained one night!

This image was shot at Darling Harbour, Sydney. Earlier in the evening, my camera bag had got nicked. I’d lost two SLR lenses and a point & shoot, along with some other tid-bits. As lost as I was in my thoughts, I noticed this boat with brilliant blue lights. The reflection on the freshly drenched ground was hard to ignore.

I’d shot this image both in RAW & JPEG. The JPEG bled too much blue out and I didn’t really like what I saw on my camera screen. Not feeling particularly upbeat that evening, I didn’t try much and gave up.

Only recently did I re-visit the RAW file and was able to process the above image. I have de-saturated the image a tiny bit. I don’t shoot much in RAW, but the kind of exposure tolerance it offers never fails to amaze me.

The crisp snack…… well almost

The crew were able to hook a Dorado this evening. What could have ended up as a crisp meal, turned out to be too heavy for the line… and was able to slip away.
