BECAUSE TIME GOES ON…
The Droste effect is the effect of a picture appearing within itself. The appearance is recursive: the smaller version contains an even smaller version of the picture, and so on.
I’d always wanted to re-produce this effect, ever since I’d seen it first time. Doing a droste on a clock face is kind of clichéd …. But I did it anyway 🙂
Even if it is done a couple of times, great work of yours, nevertheless! 🙂
Thanks Andreas! Appreciate your interest 🙂
Great composition. The seashell of time. Put it to your ear and you can hear the years ticking away. 🙂
What an interesting observation 🙂
Thanks for visiting this page and sharing your kind words.
Cliche or not – wonderful image. I’d like to use this for a screensaver image. Thanks, again…
Ta-Ta for now…
Really cool!! 🙂
Thankyou 😀
Well, it’s the first time for me, and it’s great!
Thanks Donna. Appreciate your interest 🙂
Photography is like walking: We all do it a little differently. If we limited ourselves to never taking photos or trying things that others had done before, we’d never get anywhere 🙂
That’s very inspiring! Thank you 🙂
My brain exploded.
lol 🙂
Good work, Good design
Thank you! Glad you liked it.
Love this- drew me right into your blog!
Thank you 🙂
You are welcome!! ♡
Very nice. I like how you note your gear and settings throughout the blog, the stuff like ISO settings and everything is actually quite helpful.
Thanks Dave 🙂
As I see every photo as a photographer, settings is the first thing which comes to my mind. I also like to share a bit about my photo-taking experience. One is always learning (and getting inspired) so a thought sharing is always welcome.
Appreciate your interest in my blog. Cheers!
speaking of learning – something new for me. thanks for the inspiration.
just wanted to leave a note of appreciation for taking a look at the images in my blog. I’m working on incorporating some of tips & tricks i have picked up along the way.
I clicked over here from Serenity Spell because of the fabulous clock. I was certain you’d tell me where I could get one for my own self!
OK, a tad disappointed that I have to keep on with my regular clocks, but absolutely knocked out that you created this photo!
Thanks for your interest 🙂
This photo of a clock is an illusion. (The source clock hangs in my living room).
Very encouraging words, so thanks again 🙂
I did figure out that it’s an illusion, but I sure wanted THAT clock to hang in MY living room! Quite fabulous! Makes my singing Looney Tunes clock appear just ho-hum. <:-D
I spent time looking at your photo, trying to tell the time, wondering…. Thank you so much for the brain fun!
I had not heard of the Droste effect before so I’ve learned something 🙂 Really like your clock.
Thank you Lena 🙂
Absolutely love this shot!!!
Thank you!
Very seldom something comes out as I had envisioned in my mind. However this was one of those times 😀
This is amazing! Will you share the secret of how you did it?
Thank you & Why not 🙂
This was done very simply using a photoshop plugin called ‘pixel bender’. Its a free download. This particular effect is called ‘Droste Effect’. Lemme know if you need any more info about it.
Cheers!
Thanks! I will give it a look at the weekend…I can already think of some cool images to bend and twist in Droste!
Don’t forget to share the results!
Wish you all the best.
I’ll share if they are any good!! Thanks for sharing, and I do love that clock 🙂
Thanks for this introduction to the Droste effect. I’ve seen spirals on snails, but never any with numbers on them.
Thanks for your interest Steve.
Actually this was my first attempt at Droste effect. The possibilities are endless. You could turn any round/elleptical object into a never ending spiral. Shall hope to post a few more pics on this effect soon.
What a wonderful image! And thank you too for sharing how you did it-
Thank you! … and you are welcome 🙂
I hadn’t seen it before. Love it.
Thank you! Glad you liked it 🙂
I like the title of your blog. Very appropro!
Thank you 🙂
What a beautiful clock! I love the photo!
Thank you 🙂
Well, this one’s new to me, so I’m glad you went ahead and did it — and a superb job at that!
Thank you Becky! Glad you liked it.
Done before? Ah, but Fibonacci himself would approve this one. I think the Droste effect is most effectively done on just this clock face. I followed the magnificent Sebastian from one of my blogs where you “liked”, and find that I am immensely interested in your work here. Thank you.
Many thanks! Your kind words alone make it worth all the effort. I am glad you liked it 🙂
Please keep re-visiting & have a great day.
Very cool!
I fall in luv with ur blog…full of imagination..this is what I really wanted..
Thank you so much! Your words are very kind and encouraging. 🙂
x)
🙂
😀
Love this… does it make time go faster or slower? Or does one not even care?
Thank you!….. actually it just shows that its perpetual 😛
I didnt think it cliched! I enjoy your images as well… see you tend to record the settings on your camera…I must do that, be more disciplined!
Thank you!
Whenever I see a wonderful image, the first question which comes to my mind is … ‘what was the process used’. I earnestly hope that some of my photographs may invoke a similar feeling in others… 🙂
I really like the photo! So nice!
Thanks Tabea! Your comment is very encouraging.
Really nice!
Love that clock face and all of your photography that I have looked at. Much life in your images.
