Photograph taken June 30, 2012

I had shot this picture on a ship. The ship’s superstructure is illuminated by moonlight only. You can see the constellation of Great Bear [Ursa Major] (The inverted question mark of 7 stars) atop the ship’s funnel.

Unfortunately I wasn’t carrying my tripod and the camera had been steadied by pressing against some thick books, arranged to form an ‘L’ shape.

Ursa Major, also known as the Great Bear, is a constellation visible throughout the year in most of the northern hemisphere.
