THE UNCONVENTIONAL PORTRAIT:
This picture was taken as part of a 52 week challenge of a photography group I am following on Facebook.
Our facilitator had given us the theme ‘Unconventional’ for this week’s challenge. Now I’d posted my daughter’s pics for previous two weeks for themes ‘Chill’ & ‘Smile’. Naturally the pressure was a bit much from my son to post his pic as well. I guess anybody who has more than one child would understand my plight.
As is apparent, it’s a recursive pattern comprising of 5 different photographs, shot with same EXIF as noted above. I am aware that it’s a bit of cliché. But as my fellow blogger once said, ‘If we limited ourselves to never taking photos or trying things that others had done before, we’d never get anywhere’. I agree.
That is so cool ! ! ! I want one for my wall. I guess I better start taking photos of my family holding photos of themselves. Great job…and a great looking son, too. He looks like quite the little man.
Ta-Ta for now…
Thank you so much. He’s very happy with your comment… let’s see when his feet touch ground again .. lol 😀
Brilliant trick and well clicked! I love Aanu’s hairdo 🙂
Thanks Mez! He’s so glad you noticed 😀
yes, nice hair-do, too!
lol.. yeah and I don’t even know which soccer player has inspired this 🙂
>:-D
Aanu you look so good! Very clever pic Ausaf!
Thank you 🙂
He was really after me to post his pics. (You know how it is). Last eve he’s shot some plants on his mom’s iPhone and now wants me to upload them. He’s been googling his name and wonders why the search engine doesn’t show this pic …… yet. Lol
Well deserved Aanu! Love you!
Great work!! Excellent photos!
Thank you Mr. Prasad!
Even if the concept has been seen before, I like the minimalist approach you took with the simple frames, bold colored clothes on white background, and your son’s matter-of-fact expression. You definitely brought a voice to this technique. Also, thanks for checkin out purelysubjective. Snagging a “like’ from a photographer with work such as yours is a boon; ‘ppreciate it.
Also, too rad that you’re a sea captain. I don’t know what kind of music you like, but there’s a great (if slightly dark) song called “The Mariner’s Revenge,” by The Decemberists that sailing brings to mind. Cheers!
Thanks Jourdie!
Appreciate your interest & interpretation. In my earlier post ( https://ausafabidi.wordpress.com/2013/01/29/branches ), I’ve mentioned how I’d taken up ‘digital art’ for some time. However, due to lack of guides like you, I gave it up. Your above interpretation has inspired me again and I shall soon upload other images I’d created during that phase.
You have a very inspiring blog. I am impressed by the diversity of your creativity.
Thanks for introducing me to ‘The Mariner’s Revenge’. I was able to find it on iTunes.
Stay blessed! And keep – revisiting 🙂

No No, Your plight?! Sir, you have more trouble on hands now 😉

anytime bro!
Which city you based in?
I live in Lucknow Arjun. However shall be visiting Mumbai sometimes in March this year.
I just came from there last week. I was there for 3 days. My first trip though. I ate and drank in that lane named after a movie theatre, I’m forgetting right now..
Must have been ‘Tulsi’ Talkies. Do get in touch if you visit again anytime.
Right Tulsi. I am in awe of that place. What people, chumma!
I want one! This photo is clever and beautiful.
Thank you… and anytime! 🙂
How original!

Thank you Christy. 🙂
How fun! I bet that was fun to do. I love his expressions.
Yes it was fun 🙂 Though in this size it may perhaps not be apparent, there’s also a one included where the frame is balanced on his feet. He’s part of his school’s gymnastic team and he had a lot more ideas than I could accommodate 🙂
