About
I am a sea captain by trade and an amateur photographer. I find photography as a perfect confluence of art & science. It has enough technology in it to keep the most ardent of geeks satisfied. The creative possibilities are only limited by oneโs imagination.
If you like my pictures and would want to use them, please drop me a note and link them back to my blog.

Your style of storytelling is very effective & appealing ๐
Your photos are beautiful – and I love that phrase “ardent geeks”. That paints a beautiful word picture too. Blessings.
Thank you ๐
Well… I discovered my ‘about’ page full 3 days after starting my blog, which btw is only 3 weeks back. Whenever I used to see my ‘stats’ I used to wonder why do people go to ‘about’ page.
To my horror, it read ‘this is an example of a page’… LOL.
I decided to fill it out with whatever gibberish came to my mind first. I am really glad that you could see some sense in it.
Cheers and stay blessed!

Wow…I was lucky with the Heron shot. Your work is in a different league altogether
For what it’s worth, that shot was taken with an old OM10 and a 200mm lens; I know that proper photographers like to read that sort of information!
Thanks for the camera/settings info ‘Watch the bird’ post. It always interests photo-enthusiasts like me ๐

THANKS
Hi Ausef, Thanks for checking out my blog. I’m glad you liked it and decided to follow it. I like yours as well. I think we might have more in common than both being captains and amateur photographers. ๐
I like how you’re using your special effects. I haven’t figured any of that out yet.
Thanks Jill. I am glad you liked my blog and the pictures.
I do like to push my boundaries with image making at times, although I usually do discuss ‘how I did it’ in the post.
If there’s anything which particularly fascinates you, do ask and I’ll be happy to discuss same.
.
Sounds good. I haven’t managed to find the time to do anything very creative with my photographs. I do very minimal editing, just crop them maybe tweak a little bit. Most of the ones I’ve posted lately are straight from my point and shoot camera since no time to edit them at all.
Do you bring your fancy cameras with you on the ship? I never do since I don’t have the room in my carry on and now we have a weight limit for our baggage on the choppers of only 18kg. I can’t even get my small bag down to that!
Most of my images too are minimally edited. With today’s point and shoot, most images can be directly uploaded.
To answer your question, Yes, I do carry my DSLR and a couple of lenses on board. Since I am serving on oil tankers, very few joinings take place by choppers. We do get the 30kg baggage allowance as per MLC 2006 (Yayee to that!).
I have been fortunate to capture many interesting images at sea. I even captured the fire on oil rig ‘Hercules’ last July, off SW Pass. In fact I was anchored 4′ off it and even relayed their distress call to USCG earlier in the day. (Maybe I’ll dig up my archives and post it here soon).
I have nominated you for a Liebster Blog Award. I enjoy your work and hope to share that with others.
